Neil Clarke is the editor and publisher of Clarkesworld Magazine (Hugo winner for Best Semiprozine: 2010, 2011, 2013, and finalist: 2009; World Fantasy Special Award – Nonprofessional winner in 2014, and finalist: 2009, 2010, 2012) and Forever Magazine. Neil is a six-time finalist for the Hugo Best Editor Short Form (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018), winner of the Chesley Award for Best Art Director (2016, 2018; finalist 2017), and recipient of the Solstice Award from SFWA (2019). Neil is also the owner of Wyrm Publishing and science fiction translation imprint Clarkesworld Books.

At Readercon 23, Neil experienced a near-fatal heart attack, which was followed by the installation of a defibrillator and a new life as a cyborg. His first original anthology, Upgraded (Wyrm Publishing, 2014), was inspired by these events. Other anthologies include Galactic Empires (Night Shade Books, 2017), More Human than Human (Night Shade Books, 2017), Touchable Unreality (China Machine Press, 2017), The Final Frontier (Night Shade Books, 2018), Not One of Us (Night Shade Books, 2018), The Eagle Has Landed (Night Shade Books, 2018), and the Best Science Fiction of the Year series (Night Shade Books, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019).
